GRAND OPENING OF THE NEW HARVEY REDSKY MEMORIAL SCHOOL AND WATER TREATMENT FACILITY

This September 21st was the grand opening of the new Harvey Redsky Memorial School and water plant in Shoal Lake 40. Activities included a fun afternoon consisting of tours, games, food stands, and performances.

This was a very important and special day for the community of Shoal Lake 40. With the help of extensive upgrades to the existing water distribution system and the new water treatment plant, 6 of the 7 water advisories in the community have been lifted, leaving the last advisory to be resolved later this fall 2021. Prior to these new and upgraded water solutions, a boil water advisory in Shoal Lake 40 was in effect since 1997.

The new 18,200 square foot school was also a high priority in the community of Shoal Lake 40. The Harvey Redsky Memorial School will offer education services from kindergarten to grade eight and will also be used as a community centre for hosting sport events, tournaments, ceremonial celebrations, harvest gatherings, Band Council and community meetings, festivals, derbys, and more. The school has also been designed to operate as a before-school care facility, with a breakfast program and access to the gym and library.
